Rub Out Violence
2 out of 3 secondary school children in Africa say they have easy access to a gun. Many see violence as the way to feel powerful. Through fear or aspiration, they drop out of school.
True power comes from education. Interbrand's Johannesburg office worked with grade 7 classes on rubbing out images of violence using erasers shaped like weapons, and then created new and inspiring drawings of their futures. We inspired them to think beyond violence, showing that real power for their future can be found in school. We’re taking this message from schools to cities to an entire continent: Africa.
The Rub Out Violence Project is an initiative dedicated to eliminating the high incidence of violence in schools in Africa. The campaign's goal is to develop ways to inspire positive behavioral change in a fun and interactive way to help reduce violence in schools.
