Interbrand Releases 2013 Best Spanish Brands Report

According to the latest report from Interbrand Madrid, the value of Spanish brands are increasing: 60% of this year’s top 30 brands have increased their brand value and 14% are new entrants – Movistar remains the #1 brand and Mapfre emerges as the ‘top riser,’ increasing its brand value 69%.

MADRID, SPAIN (4 December 2013) – Interbrand Madrid has released its Best Spanish Brands report, which identifies the top 30 Spanish brands in terms of their brand value. The report is launched every two years. This edition is particularly significant for the brand consultancy as it celebrates its 10th anniversary in the Spanish market.

The new entrants in this year’s report are global brands Zara (#02) and Santander (#03), as well as national brands Bankia (#22), San Miguel (#26), Jazztel (#29) and Mutua Madrileña (#30). All these brands have shown the importance of innovation, internationalization and being able to adapt to customers’ needs, as well as focusing on their digital strategy.

Top risers for the 2013 Best Spanish Brands report include Mapfre (#12, +69%), DIA (#16, +52%), Prosegur (#15, +42%), Bershka (#9, +41%) and Gas Natural Fenosa (#19, +35%).

The leading sectors in this years’ ranking are the financial services industry with eight brands amongst the top 30, followed by the retail sector with seven brands hailing from the category, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) with four brands, the utilities industry with three brands, telecommunications with two brands, sports & media with two brands, the energy sector with two brands, and one internet and lastly, one representing the business services industry.
