Interbrand Sampson de Villiers Appoints Enver Groenewald as CEO for Southern Africa

NEW YORK, New York (10 April 2014) – Interbrand, the world’s leading brand consultancy, today announced that Enver Groenewald has been named CEO, Southern Africa of Interbrand Sampson de Villiers. Interbrand Sampson de Villiers serves as Interbrand’s hub in Africa with offices in Johannesburg, Accra, Gaborone, Lagos and Nairobi. As CEO, Southern Africa of Interbrand Sampson de Villiers, Groenewald will be responsible for the Interbrand business across a number of country markets in the Southern African region. The appointment comes as an equity transaction between Interbrand and Brandsphere Holdings—of which Enver is Chairman and a major shareholder—concludes.

Prior to joining Interbrand, Enver held various executive-level positions, including that of General Manager at Avusa (now TML), CEO of an Avusa subsidiary, as well as Business Director at Ogilvy and Head of Corporate Brand at Sanlam. Groenewald most recently concluded a management buy-out of Avusa-owned advertising agency, Ochre AD, through Brandsphere Holdings. “Enver’s strong track record of business and brand leadership in a number of blue-chip South African companies makes him our ideal partner as we continue to build on our 40-year history of creating and managing brand value on the African continent,'” said Jeremy Sampson, Chairman at Interbrand Sampson de Villiers.
