Amanda Mackenzie speaks with Interbrand about the growing influence of digital, the role of marketing in financial services, and the Aviva brand.


BIOGRAPHY

As group marketing director, Amanda Mackenzie has overall responsibility for all Aviva group marketing, communications and public affairs. She joined Aviva in March 2008 from Centrica plc, where she was commercial and marketing director for British Gas. Amanda is a member of the Aviva group executive committee. Amanda has more than 20 years’ experience in the marketing and advertising profession.

At Centrica she was responsible for all aspects of marketing for British Gas (research, brand positioning, communications, data analysis, and PR) as well as general management for online, data quality, operational communications and the print centers. She also played a leading role in managing the British Gas brand and providing functional leadership of the marketing community across the whole of Centrica.

Amanda has held a number of other senior marketing roles, including European vice-president of marketing at Hewlett Packard and group marketing and brand director at BT.

Amanda has a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of London and is a graduate of the Insead advanced management program. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She is a member of the Government Strategic Marketing Advisory Board and is a fellow of the Marketing Society and a governor of the National Youth Orchestra.
