New Location, New Experience
An established legend in Omaha, Nebraska Furniture Mart was looking to become a retail destination in Dallas, Texas as North America’s largest home furnishings store. Rather than running the risk of blending in among their competitors, NFM looked to stand out from the competition by creating the ultimate home furnishings shopping experience.
Intimacy on a Grand Scale
Interbrand tackled the store’s challenge of scale to give it energy, style, and personal appeal. The sixteen acres of shopping space were organized from a consumer, experience, and architectural standpoint. The customer journey begins from the parking lot, where landscaping, music, and fountains build anticipation.
Once visitors enter into the experience, a grand two-and-a-half story atrium exudes the grandeur that you continue to feel while shopping every square inch of this retail space. The main navigation is bold and unique, utilizing sky-lit “dream houses” to serve as beacons while also bringing together merchandise from all departments to showcase the latest trends.
Inspired by these room displays, customers follow color-coded wayfinding systems to their corresponding departments. Refreshments also await them in the store’s charming fast-casual restaurant.
The use of smart adjacencies and cross-merchandising techniques expose the shopper to the store’s full offerings. This helps to achieve synergies through the cross selling of all products that make up the full landscape of a home. Steady growth in the store’s bottom line proves that NFM is successfully showcasing its massive variety of styles and price points, which, in turn, has maximized their sales, profit, and marketing opportunities. The largest furniture store in North America, NFM’s Dallas store sales exceed $1,000,000 daily, and over 3.5 million people visit this location annually.
