Tokyo, Japan (November 22, 2018) — Interbrand continues to sweep the world of branding and design awards with another win for V.LEAGUE, its daring reinvention of the premium Japanese volleyball league. Red Dot’s ‘Best of the Best’ in the Logo Design, Brand Identity category is the seventh international award the project has received, and the 20th major award won by Interbrand’s Tokyo office in the past 16 months.

“It’s been all but a secret that Interbrand Tokyo is again the heart of exciting, genuinely boundary-breaking creative work,” said Chief Creative Officer William Woduschegg. “Now, at last, we’re seeing global recognition of this creative and forward-thinking city.”

Once highly popular, Japanese volleyball has long been losing fans and investment. To reverse this steep decline, Interbrand gave the sport an entirely new brand approach derived from the fierce passion, precise teamwork, and dramatic movements of its players. With the concept ‘WE NEVER DROP THE BALL’, it dared players to rise to the challenge, and supporters to stand up proudly for their sport.

The new brand concept and design were launched to the Japanese press and public in December 2017, rolled out across the league in mid-2018, and incorporated into the league’s new headquarters this Fall.

Interbrand Tokyo also received Red Dot awards in the Brand Design category for V.LEAGUE and the Corporate Identity category for Maruha Nichiro.
